While our brothers and sisters
Are murdered gruesomely
Like animals in the abattoir

While helpless villagers across Nigeria
Are sacked from their ancestral homes
To seek refuge at IDP camps

For how long
For how long shall we cry?
While thousands of children are orphaned
And subjected to inhumane treatment
When there is an elected government in power

For how long
For how long shall we look the other way?
While cattle graze our farmlands freely
While our people die from starvation

For how long
For how long shall we shed tears?
While the government plays politics
With the lives of precious Nigerians

For how long
For how long shall injustice prevail?
When God created all equal
But some greedy folks
Made a few more equal than others

For how long will selfish politicians
Flaunter wealth
While those who elected them
Struggle for the basic needs of life
