The American Dream

The American Dream,

no such thing as "The American Dream"

where if you're a negro, they'll have you scream

point a gun, shoot, and let you bleed;

Until you no longer breathe

The American Dream,

no such thing as "The American Dream"

where refugees are forced to leave

cuffed up, locked up, wanting to grieve

standing alone unable to receive good deeds

The American Dream

no such thing as "The American Dream"

where we don't have opportunities

we can't work without degrees

school loans but debts come in

unsuccessful job, insufficient money

impossible to sustain the family

The American Dream

no such thing as "The American Dream"

where congress and its power always win

the government doesn't care about us

their only goal is to get rich

control its puppets, be extreme

The American Dream,

no such thing as "The American Dream"

where there are no rights or freedom of speech

but still called, "The land of the free"

yet no one is, no one speaks

I enjoy writing more than anything in the world. It is my escape from reality. It is my freedom to a whole new world. When I write I feel at home. Everything feels right.
