The purpose

I was running endlessly trying to escape from something I don’t remember and immediately I heard a bullet noise.

I woke up. It was 4 am. I always see nightmares when I’m worried and anxious. As a shy person, since childhood, trips had always made me nervous, maybe because of the fact that it was unsual for me to break my working routine to do something new but this much seems to be weird. I got up, wore a warm jacket and got out on the balcony. While staring the sunrise, I was wondering how is it possible to always feel so peaceful while watching this view. And the truth is sunrises give me that feeling of hope, that feeling of rebirth. It’s amazing how your day can turn out to be completely awful and, just like the dark is replaced by light, you still have the chance to leave it all behind and start a new day again.

We got on the car and left the house about 10 o’clock. Our destination was Bovilla Lake. It was nearly 15 km away of Tirana, Albania. The road lasted less than 1 hour. While we were climbing the mountains, I could hear the scary voices of my kids in the back seat whispering :

-They are so high! Dad, what if they fall on us?”

-This won’t happen,- I answered smiling,-they are safe.

Definitely the imagination of the kids is limitless. It is driven by the lack of knowledge. When you know nothing about what you see, the only way to clear your doubts is by using your  imagination. As an adult, I hadn’t ever thought about the fall of those mountains because I knew that the forces that were holding the parts together were stronger than the gravity. But my little kids didn’t know that.

At the end of the road, the wonderful view of the lake appeared right in front of us. The reflection of the sun on that deep blue surface created the image of a precious stone on the neck of a beautiful woman. My son, Teddy was running after the cats of the restaurant by the lake while my daughter, Lisa seemed to be very curious about the water supply mechanisms. The two extremes of my children : One passionated about nature creations and the other strongly connected to the humankind inventions, but they have in common the desire to keep moving, to discover, to learn. Action was the peace of their free spirits. While me and my wife found ourselves staying still by the lake and staring at it for a little while. Minutes later our silence was distracted by the instinctive worry about how were the kids doing. So, we went to them and decided to have a walk around. After taking some food, the sheets and the ball, we went towards the small valley by the hill. My wife started playing with the kids and I was staying there, taking some photographs and videos of them. I could see the brightness in their eyes while having fun with each other. Love is such a strong feeling, isn’t it? Not only that it pushes people towards pure happiness, but it gives us the desire to spread this happiness. It pushed my wife to pretend like the soccer ball kick of my son was too fast to stop it so that he could feel the emotion of being a winner and at the same time, it pushed her to act like she had no clue about how biscuits are cooked so that our daughter could feel proud of herself for helping her mom learning a new receipe. It’s amazing how one can deny himself for the sake of their lovers’ bliss.

Around 2 pm we ate our foods and went to the car. The way back home felt very long. The kids and my wife were sleeping. For times, I’ve been wondering about the life purpose of any person. And I guess I have the answer. Happiness is the answer and love is the force that drives it.
