Crawl From The Ashes

With a heart heavy, weary and thin

I think of how things could have been

Saddened, I ponder to my chagrin

A thought crosses my mind

Is there really love of this kind

Right from the start

She took a hold of my heart

Now, it's all torn apart

Yet here I stand

Wishing to hold a hand

Through a life I planned

I try to stand tall

Yet still I fall

With this hurt

I rebuild my wall

So, I crawl from the ashes

Heal my hearts' gashes

As waves of life splashes

I grew up in rural Lima, Ohio. My first poem was written in 1987. I didn't actually begin writing until 2002. I decided to finally compose a book because so many have told me I should. I am always constantly writing. Check Poetry and quotes from my Heart on Facebook
